After-School French Enrichment Classes

Our French immersion classes are engaging, interactive, and designed and taught by gifted and experienced bilingual educators. Our goal is to make language learning fun and meaningful and to instill a lifelong love and appreciation for the French language and culture.

The Fall 2024 semester of our after school programs runs from Monday, September 9 through Friday, December 20, 2024. Enrichment classes are held on school days between 3:15 and 5:30pm at our Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights locations at 603 Henry Street and 80 Clinton Street.

FALL 2024 SCHEDULE


La fabrique de l’Art avec Anouk

Age Level: (K to 2nd grade)

Date/Time: Mondays or Wednesdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Location: 80 Clinton Street

Unlock your child's creativity and curiosity with our Art and French Immersion Class! In this program, children will gain a profound knowledge of art history, art techniques, and the vast array of mediums and materials available. Each class provides a unique opportunity for students to explore and experiment with their artistic abilities while practicing the French language. 

The program is taught entirely in French, providing a full immersion experience that enhances language acquisition in a fun and engaging environment. 

Monday and Wednesday classes are different. You can register your child for one  class or both classes. 

Highlights: 

-  Learning about famous artists, movements, and significant periods in art history. 

- Exploring various techniques 

- Experimenting with different artistic mediums and materials 

- Engaging in artistic activities while learning and practicing French.  


La fabrique du Livre (Français)

Age Level: K to 1st Grade 

Date/Time: Thursdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Location: 80 Clinton Street

Become budding young authors!

In this workshop, your child will learn basic grammatical and language structures through children's literature. Your child will also participate in art workshops that will culminate in the writing and creation of a book. 

A reading and presentation of the books will conclude this workshop.  

This course is designed and adapted for beginner French students.

- Discovering French-speaking children's literature

L’atelier créatif

Age Level: K to 2nd Grade

Location: 80 Clinton Street

Date/Time: Fridays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM (Only 5 sessions)

Every Friday, for 5 weeks, your child will have the opportunity to dive into the world of arts and crafts. This workshop is designed to introduce children to various crafting techniques, such as weaving, modeling, and printing. Each session will be a creative adventure where they will make a new unique object. Over the weeks, the children will explore a variety of techniques and materials, stimulating their imagination and creativity. This program also aims to develop essential skills for their age, such as fine motor skills, precision, and concentration.

Classes are taught in French.

- Discover and experiment with different crafting techniques. 

- Develop fine motor skills and precision through practical activities. 

- Encourage creativity and personal expression.

La fabrique de l’Art avec Marina

Age Level: K to 3rd Grade

Location: 603 Henry St*

Date/Time: Mondays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

*PS58 school pick-up available. Note that we will require a minimum of 4 children registered from the same school to offer pick-up.

Children will acquire a profound knowledge of art history, art techniques, and the boundless amount of mediums and materials available in our world. These classes allow students to experiment with the French language while expressing their unique personalities through art. This class is taught in French.


L’atelier théâtre avec Etienne, Rebecca et Marina

Age Level: 3rd to 5th Grade

Location: 603 Henry St.

Date/Time: Mondays, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Welcome to the stage! We're casting a call for all who wish to step into the spotlight! Our after-school program offers professional techniques to enhance public speaking and self-expression, all while promoting self-confidence and empowerment. The budding actors will also participate in art workshops according to the needs of the staging.

Le petit Labo avec Guillaume 

Age Levels: 2nd -3rd Grade and 4th-5th Grade

Location: 603 Henry St

Date/Time: Tuesdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM (2nd-3rd grade) or 4:15pm - 5:15PM (4th-5th grade)

Join Guillaume and his 'Le petit Labo" class where students dive into the fascinating world of mathematics, science, and technology through captivating puzzles, riddles, and experiments! Whether working in groups or individually, this stimulating workshop is designed to encourage collaboration, strengthen problem-solving skills, and foster a lasting love for STEM. Come explore, learn, and have fun while tackling exciting challenges!

Classes are taught in French.


Le studio d’Animation avec Paul

Age Level: 2nd to 5th Grade

Date/Time: Wednesdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Location: 603 Henry Street

Join us for an exciting after school program where your child can immerse themselves in the world of animation and arts, all while learning French!

The class will focus on various artistic activities, including prop making with different materials. Students will then dive into the fundamentals of frame-by-frame animation, learning how to bring their creations to life. On December 18th, students will showcase the short movies they have created.

Highlights:

- Viewing Short Animation Extracts in order to understand animation techniques.

- Creating props with cardboard, play-doh, and other materials.

- Learning the basics of animation

- Final Presentation to friends and family.

- Class taught entirely in French, providing a unique and educational experience.


Etude de la langue française

Age: 4th-6th Grade

Wednesdays: 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Location: 603 Henry St.

This class is designed for students who are fluent in French and focuses on understanding French grammar rules and conjugation, including exceptions!  During this class, students will actively participate in games and collective activities to better understand the specificities of the language. We will also have vocabulary sessions and spelling games! This class complements the ‘Lecture et écriture en français' class, but your child can attend either one or both." 


 Les petits auteurs avec Paul

Age Level: 3rd-5th Grade

Location: 603 Henry St. 

Date/ Time: Thursdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Write your story and create your book! In this workshop, your child will learn grammatical structures and language suitable for their level through children's literature. Your child will also participate in art workshops that will culminate in writing and creating a book. A reading and presentation of the books will conclude this workshop.  This course is designed for and adapted to French-speaking students or students who have followed a French and/or bilingual education program.  Highlights: 

- Learning grammatical structures 

- Learning conjugations 

- Enriching vocabulary 

- Discovering French children's literature.

Lecture et écriture créative en Français avec Rebecca

Age Level: 4th-6th Grade 

Date/Time: Thursdays, 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Location: 603 Henry St.

This class is open to students who are fluent in French and focuses on reading, oral and written expression. All activities in this class are conducted in French. This class complements the « Etude de la langue française » class, and your child can attend either one or both. This class will lead to a final presentation of student’s writing project.


Donjons et Dragons avec Etienne 

Age Level: 3rd to 5th Grade

Location: 603 Henry St.

Date/Time: Fridays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM or 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Welcome Brave Adventurers!

Dive into the magical world of Dungeons & Dragons, where imagination reigns supreme and every child is a hero! Our after school program, specially designed for young adventurers offers an enchanting mix of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
